Research Practicum 2

Course goals

Based on the readings, computer sessions, assignments, and class discussions, the concrete learning goals of this course are: (a) understand and applying advanced statistical methods to test the hypotheses (either SEM or Multilevel analysis (ML)); (b) apply skills and knowledge from earlier MERM courses to create a Methods, Results and Discussion section of a research paper.

Content

In this course students will empirically examine the theoretical model and hypotheses as developed in their theoretical paper for Ethnic Prejudice, Racism and Nationalism and report on this in a full research paper. In addition, they will provide feedback on the work of their peers. The aim of Research Practicum 2 is to integrate what students have learned in Ethnic Prejudice course, the methods and statistics of Research Practicum 1 and Methods and statistics II – SEM and Multilevel analysis. Moreover, this practicum provides the unique opportunity to test state-of-art statistical techniques with large datasets.
