Integrative practical II

Course goals

Upon completion of the course the student is able to:
a) demonstrate, orally and in writing, the competence to integrate theoretical and methodological -statistical arguments, decisions and interpretations on an advanced level;
b) critically and imaginatively discuss ideas and possibilities for integrating methodological and conceptual issues;
c) formulate meaningful and innovative research questions and hypotheses.

Content

This integrative practical is scheduled in the second semester of the first year, parallel to other EDSCI courses. In this practical, students complete three assignments, which are graded. In these assignments students integrate theoretical Edsci courses (01, 02, 05, 06) and the course on multilevel modeling and structural equation modeling (EdSci07). One assignment concerns the advanced statistical analysis of original data, including reporting the results, and formulate conclusions. Another assignment explores qualitative research, with specific focus on quality assurance. The final assignment concerns drafting the master thesis-proposal (in NWO-format). During the meetings, students are actively involved in discussing their assignments with the other students and to provide feedback on their fellow students’ work.
