Course goals

Developing insight in what anthropologists can contribute to the workfield and exploring future opportunities and interests
Developing awareness and insight in questions on ethics and positionality
Developing an academic and professional identity

Content

The Academic Professional course aims to help students explore the question "into what kind of (anthropology) professional do I want to develop myself?" In this year long module, students will work on the development of a professional identity, get inspired by the experiences of alumni, and prepare for the labour market. The course offers inspirational seminars, peer meetings, reflectional assignments and hands-on skills trainings. By the end of the academic year, all ideas, reflections, and assignments will be gathered in a portfolio that reflects the student’s professional anthropologist-identity and helps them navigate their career path after the master program.
