Course goals
By the end of the internship, students will have:
The internship report is the most important assessment of the students' academic and professional development, in which they describe their experiences with and reflections on the internship. The internship report will be assessed by the academic supervisor and an independent second assessor. The student's professional development is guided by means of supervision meetings, an interim evaluation and a final assessment of the learning process. In the local supervisor's final evaluation, the local supervisor provides a description of the student's learning process that will be taken into consideration when the academic supervisor determines the grade for the learning process. Students are primarily responsible for their own professional development, assisted by contributions from the local and academic supervisor and fellow students. In the internship report, students demonstrate their ability to provide a concise and academically grounded description of their activities during the internship and their resulting professional development.
- Demonstrated the ability to integrate previously learned theory, methodologies and empirical knowledge into experiences in practice at the organisation;
- Acquired skills for future professional practice;
- Developed a professional and academic attitude to their work;
- Learned to reflect on the internship and their own personal, academic and ethical experiences;
- Acquired and shared new knowledge for their own development and for the benefit of the internship organisation;
- Learned to report on work activities and their own personal, academic and professional development in a concise and professional manner;
- Explicitly and personally familiarised themselves with the job market of the future.

Content
Students are primarily responsible for finding and being accepted by a suitable placement organisation. The Clinical Psychology department maintains a database of internship organizations for Dutch speaking students that are part of its regular network. However, students are also expected to actively search for a placement that meets the requirements. Placements must be approved beforehand by the internship coordinator(s).
The internship is a study component in which students do an active professional internship in the field of clinical psychology. During the internship, students learn to integrate theory, empirical knowledge, methodologies and their other academic skills into professional practice. It is important for Master's students to learn to reflect on their academic, professional and personal qualities. As a future professional, students are expected to demonstrate considerable self-management skills and be ready for the labour market. Students will do their internship at an organization for basic or specialized mental healthcare (including medical psychology and rehabilitation departments). Work performed in a clinical internship can include diagnostics, treatment or needs assessment. During the internship, students will practice professional skills in these fields and, in doing so, start to develop a professional and academic attitude. Students are generally supervised by a healthcare psychologist or an experienced academic psychologist within the organization. The clinical internship also prepares students for a healthcare psychologist or psychotherapist post-Master's programme. Pay careful attention to the previous education requirements for both programs: see https://www.rinogroep.nl.
