Academic Professional Neuropsychology

Course goals

• Learning how to integrate scientific knowledge, problems from neuropsychology practice and research questions
• Developing awareness of and knowledge about the context in which neuropsychology specific problems can arise
• Developing scientific and professional integrity

Relation between assessment and objective
Learning objectives will be assessed on the basis of a portfolio that the students compile. This portfolio contains written assignments concerning both scientific and professional reflection on neuropsychological practice as well as aspects related to ethical issues. The assignments are linked to lectures, workshops and various other activities that are part of the academic professional course.

Content

The Academic Professional course will prepare you for entering the job market by developing your professional identity. Academic professionals can move between theory and practical implementation and use state-of-the-art knowledge and skills to identify problems in a societal context and solve these. This vision, which forms the basis for the neuropsychology master program, is supported by the Academic Professional module.
Important components are: reflecting on one's own performance, academic integrity, ethics in (clinical and research) practice and lifelong learning. This will help you to continue working as an academic when you enter the job market and when perhaps a more flexible attitude is expected. In addition, practical skills which are essential for finding a job will receive attention.
The course consists of (1) a program with activities related to the job market and preparation for finding a job (2) a series of activities specific for neuropsychology, including lectures/visits/meetings etc.. These activities focus on both scientific integrity and the job market for neuropsychologists. Within this series of activities there will be some options which allow selection of activities that fit best with personal interests.
