Course goals
By the end of the internship, students will have:
The internship report is the most important assessment of the students' academic and professional development, in which they describe their experiences with and reflections on the internship. The internship report will be assessed by the academic supervisor and an independent second assessor. The student's professional development is guided by means of supervision meetings, an interim evaluation and a final assessment of the learning process. In the local supervisor's final evaluation, the local supervisor provides a description of the student's learning process that will be taken into consideration when the academic supervisor determines the grade for the learning process. Students are primarily responsible for their own professional development, assisted by contributions from the local and academic supervisor and fellow students. In the internship report, students demonstrate their ability to provide a concise and academically grounded description of their activities during the internship and their resulting professional development.

Content
The clinical psychology research internship is intended for students wishing to familiarise themselves with research-related activities and roles. Students actively participate in an ongoing mental healthcare-related research project at an organization (for example, a university or mental healthcare institution), gaining experience with professional and academic skills connected to different phases of the empirical cycle, such as literature review, data collection, data analysis and reporting research results. Students are supervised by an experienced academic professional within the organization, preferably someone with a PhD in a related field (e.g., clinical psychology, health psychology).
Students are primarily responsible for finding and being accepted by a suitable placement organisation. The Clinical Psychology department offers research internships within the faculty. It is also possible to find research internships externally within mental health institutions or universities. Students are expected to actively search for a placement that meets the requirements. Placements must be approved beforehand by the internship coordinator(s).
The internship is a study component in which students do an active professional internship in the field of clinical psychology. During the internship, students learn to integrate theory, empirical knowledge, methodologies and their other academic skills into professional practice. It is important for Master's students to learn to reflect on their academic, professional and personal qualities. As a future professional, students are expected to demonstrate considerable self-management skills and be ready for the labour market.
