Course goals

The goal of the course Juveniles and Law is to acquire knowledge and understanding of working with children, youth, and their parents or guardians.

Content

The course Juveniles and Law is part of the following courses:
  • the course ‘Clinical Child, Family and Education Studies: Academic Professional (General)’ (202200203);
  • the course ‘Youth, Education and Society 05: Academic Professional (General)’ (202200405).
In light of the aim of these two courses – to become an academic professional – it is necessary to gain knowledge of the context of one’s professional context. Understanding the legal context is an essential qualification for professionals working in the field where children and youth are involved. In particular family law, youth law and human rights (including children’s rights) are relevant. These subjects will be discussed in the course Juveniles and Law. The extent to which you have gained knowledge and insight into legal aspects of providing assistance in practice will be assessed by a written test.

The lectures and exam within this course are in Dutch for Dutch speaking students. For non-Dutch students the literature and exam are in English.
