Course goals

After this course, students are able to:
1. Analyze real-world social challenges, drawing on and integrating various relevant (disciplinary) perspectives;
2. Understand and apply different theoretical lenses to development, adaptation, implementation and evaluation social change approaches;
3. Create and justify (an aspect of) the development, adaptation, implementation or evaluation of a  social change approach targeting a real-world challenge, in a systematical way, drawing on different theoretical accounts, involving stakeholders in the process;
4. Communicate and collaborate with stakeholders involved in social change approaches, including target populations;
5. Critically reflect on interdependencies and relationships between stakeholders involved in social change approaches, including target populations, and the position of students themselves.

 

Content

The overarching aim of this course is to equip students with the knowledge and skills to be able to integrate scientific theory and methods in the systematic development, adaptation, implementation, and evaluation of social change approaches (i.e., interventions and policies), targeting real-world social challenges related to the central themes of the master’s program social challenges, policies and interventions: differences in health and well-being; combining work and care; climate change and sustainable behaviour; and social cohesion & diversity.
