SCPI Master Internship

Course goals

• Gaining insights in activities of an academic professional in the social domain.
• Acquiring the professional skills of a junior academic professional.
• Approaching a social issue from an interdisciplinary perspective.

Content

The Master Project project takes place in the second semester (period 3 and 4) and consists of two interrelated components: an internship (this course), and the writing of a master thesis (course 202300018 Master Thesis), both focused on the same societal challenge (topic is the choice of the student).

For most students, the internship takes place at an external organization, but sometimes internally, with one of the researchers at ISS. Internships are often practice-oriented, i.e. focused on gaining experience with working as an academic professional. A few students may have a research-focused internship, and may be able to conduct their own research as part of their internship and use these data for their master thesis. During your internship, you will be supervised by an academic professional working at the internship organization. Students write a reflection report about their internship.
