Course goals

Knowledge of and insight into:
Setting up, conducting, and presenting educational research on bachelor level.

Skills:
To work individually and in collaboration on a research project, that is, set-up, conduct, report, and present scientific educational research on bachelor level.

Content

This course focuses on research skills. The skills relate to:

• Operationalizing the theoretical concepts from a problem statement
• Making a data analysis plan and conducting (quantitative or qualitative) data-analysis
• Reporting (following the APA 7 Publication Manual) a scientific study (introduction, methods, results, and discussion sections)

In this course, the methodological and statistical knowledge acquired in the course “Methoden en Statistiek van Sociaal Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek" will be applied on research centered around educational topics that have been addressed in previous content courses (learning and instruction, development and design, assessment and evaluation, advising and consultancy. The skills acquired in "Academic Writing" will be applied on writing a full research report.
