Internship Applied Cognitive Psychology

Course goals

After completion of the internship, the student:

• is able to independently apply scientific knowledge and academic skills
• is able to write a report in a format that is commonly used in the occupational field
• has acquired and developed relevant professional skills

Relation between assessment and objective
Via an assessment form, the student's ability to apply scientific and academic knowledge and skills in an independent way is tested. Also, the development of professional skills is evaluated. In addition, the written report reflects the extent to which the student has succeeded in applying academic knowledge. Finally, the report reflects the student's ability to write a clear and, if applicable, to the occupational field tailored format report of the findings and recommendations.

Content

During the master's internship, the student will work in the occupational or in the applied cognitive research field. The internship can be conducted either at the university or at a company or research facility outside the university. The internship allows for a wide range of activities. Without being complete, this may vary from conducting a pilot study, evaluating a (measurement) tool, analyzing data, developing a measuring tool, to performing usability research. The deliverable will be decided on at the start of the internship. In most cases, the deliverable will be or be supported by a written report in which the result(s), conclusion(s) and possible recommendations will be presented.
To discuss the different possibilities and procedures students should contact the internship coordinator of the programme. Prerequisite is that the internship is approved by the coordinator before the start of the internship.
