Conservation science and Impact course description, B-MEBCSI
This course explores the field of conservation science, its theoretical foundations, practical applications, and the broader societal and environmental impacts of conservation efforts. Through a multidisciplinary approach, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of conservation challenges, strategies, and the potential consequences of conservation decisions.
The course will cover various topics, including the principles of conservation biology, the importance of biodiversity, the various threats that ecosystems face, and the methods used to monitor and protect biodiversity. We will also explore the policy framework that supports conservation efforts at national and international levels, including the role of NGOs and governmental agencies. We will also focus on indigenous knowledge and community based management.
Overall, the aim of the course is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between science and conservation. By the end of the course, students will have the knowledge and skills necessary to make a positive impact on biodiversity conservation, whether they pursue careers in academia, government, or NGOs.
Examination include a individual writing assignment (50%) and a group assignment (50%).
