Course goals

After completion of the course, the student:
-    is familiar with the community of the Cardiovascular Health and Disease programme;
-    is familiar with principles of scientific integrity, reproducibility, translatability, and transparency within cardiovascular research;
-    is able to identify stakeholders of the cardiovascular research field and involve relevant stakeholders into their own research work;
-    is able to constructively provide and apply feedback from a scientific perspective (content-driven) and a collaborative perspective (person-driven).

Course description
This course is part of the mandatory coursework of the programme Cardiovascular Health and Disease. This coursework is designed to prepare students for a future career as a cardiovascular researcher by equipping them with the essential knowledge, skills, and professional mindset required in the field.

This course focuses on community building and the development of essential professional skills needed to grow into a well-rounded cardiovascular researcher. Through a series of workshops and thematic sessions offered throughout the year, students engage with the Cardiovascular Health and Disease programme community, enhance their communication and collaboration skills, and explores stakeholders both within and beyond academia. The course also covers key scientific principles - such as integrity, open science, stakeholder involvement, and valorisation - that are crucial for advancing the cardiovascular research field in a responsible and impactful way.
