Course goals

At the end of the course:
•    … the student can independently design and evaluate evidence-informed education tailored to the target group.
•    … the student is able to teach and supervise students in a didactically responsible manner.
•    … the student is able to reflect on their own educational vision , connect it to educational theory, and make adjustments to their own teaching based on advancing insights.

 

Content

After spending at least three years in the lecture halls, this course turns the tables! You will experience for yourself what it is like to be in the teacher's shoes. How do I keep everyone engaged in the lesson, what activating teaching methods are there and in which situations can they be applied, what is important when transferring knowledge, what does science actually say about this? These are just a few of the questions that may be discussed during the course.

You will follow this course with a small group of students, which allows for tailor-made teaching. Part of the time will be spent on preparing and teaching. This will mainly take place at a paraveterinary training program, but may also take place within the faculty. We will try to take your personal interests into account. In addition to teaching, you will also work on, among other things, creating and attending knowledge sessions with educational experts and supervised peer review discussions. 

Working methods
 
  • Teaching bachelor's students and/or paraveterinary students under the supervision of a lecturer.
  • Interactive knowledge sessions. 
  • Weekly peer review meetings with fellow students.
Assessments
  • Mini portfolio consisting of:
    • Lesson plans.
    • Reflection on teaching moments based on feedback received and self-reflection.
    • Reflection on knowledge sessions based on feedback received and self-reflection
    • Summary of peer review sessions
    • Detailed educational vision
  • Assessment of active participation
  • Presentation on your educational vision

Minimum grade: a passing result
Remediation: tailored to individual needs
