Course goals
After successful completion of the course, students:
1) are able to produce coherent interpretations of selected texts and films which are free from factual and logical errors;
2) should be able to articulate a personal response based on detailed observation in a broad context, discriminating where relevant between possible critical approaches.

This course is part of the 'Transforming Texts' specialisation.
This course has priority rules and a waiting list. Your enrolment is guaranteed if you:
- are a student in the BA English Language and Culture, enrolled in the specialisation Transforming texts.
- a student TCS enrolled in the hoofdrichting Moderne Talen.
- are a student in the BA Literary Studies
- Exchange students who meet the course’s entry requirements.
For any remaining slots in the course, lots are drawn among the students on the waiting list.
If you are an incoming exchange student whose exchange period ends in December, then you have the option to finish the entire course before your departure. At the start of the course, please consult the course coordinator about what will be required of you and when.
Early Exit option for international exchange students (5 EC)
Exchange students who are required to return to their home university before January, are allowed to choose an Early Exit option for this course. The Early Exit option means that students can finish the course before Christmas break, receiving 5 EC for the course. Students must make arrangements with the course coordinator at the start of the course.
