Content

Working methods
In this practical course the students will experience what it’s like to participate in neuropsychopharmacological research. They will learn how to set-up and conduct a neuropsychopharmacological experiment and use different experimentation techniques. The analysis of behavioral data and different ways of reporting and presenting these results will be another part of the course. The work in this course involves animal experiments and research in humans. All this is performed in the framework of the development of new therapeutics for psychiatric disorders. At the end of the course each student has learned how to to conduct neuropsychopharmacological experiments, analyze and interpret data and present these data in a scientific way.

Contents
This course contains different practicums that will give a close view of research in the neuropsychopharmacology field. Animal handling, observation techniques, behavioral testing and the influence of different drugs on behavior will be experienced up close. The course contains both animal experimentation and research in human subjects. You will learn about the practical and ethical considerations in animal and human research. The practical handling and the experimental results will be analyzed and presented in a written report. This course will give you the “look and feel” of what neuropsychopharmacology research is all about.
