Course goals

At the end of the course, you:

Are able to create a variety of (written) products to communicate science in a popular manner;
Are able to do so within the constraints set by the client;
Are able to do so with the intended target audience in mind;
Are able to plan your work in such a manner (both in a group and individually) that you create the products within set deadlines.

Content

The course Communicating Science with the Public (CSP) focuses on the practice of science communication. The course is based on challenge-based and community-engaged learning approaches, meaning students will be working on real products for internal and external partners. The internal partner is the communication department of the faculty of science. The external partners are Museon-Omniversum, NTR, and New Scientist.

Communicating science with the public is a 5 ECTS Master course, this means that you can expect a total workload of approximately 140 hours, which equates to an average weekly workload of 14 hours.
