Course goals

At the end of the course a student can
- Describe the dominant views of science through time;
- Describe and analyse processes of communicating science;
- Can connect the theories and models to current developments in science (communication);
- Can reflect on the complex relations between science and society.

Content

This course provides you with a general overview of the foundations of science communication as an academic domain. You will become acquainted with the dominant views on science, the developments in science communication, and the intricate relations between science and society. In the course, you will look back on socio-scientific controversies or ill-defined wicked problems and think about the role of science communication in these settings. You will end this course with a written exam.
