Bachelor's thesis Global Sustainability Science

Course goals

• formulate a practical question or problem related to sustainability science as a clear and researchable research question;
• write a research proposal based on the problem statement;
• systematically collect and analyse scientific data;
• report on the research in a written thesis and an oral poster presentation;
• critically reflect on the work of peers.

The course can only successfully be completed with a sufficient grade (5.50 or higher) for the research proposal, thesis, poster presentation and peer feedback.

Content

The Bachelor’s thesis (15 EC) is the final assignment of the Bachelor’s programme In Global Sustainability Science. In this individual research project, students apply the knowledge they have gained of sustainability challenges and solutions and of research methods and academic skills. The Bachelor’s thesis will be written on a subject related to the track (or tracks) that the students followed. The Bachelor’s thesis is used to assess the ability to plan, carry out, report and present a research project.
