Thesis for premaster-students

Course goals

• Een wetenschappelijke analyse te maken van een complex geografisch/planologisch vraagstuk, op basis van wetenschappelijke literatuur;
• Deze analyse zorgvuldig, consistent en logisch gestructureerd op te schrijven;
• De teksten nagenoeg vrij te houden van grammaticale fouten en stijlfouten;
• Met behulp van verschillende zoekstrategieën een min of meer compleet overzicht van de beschikbare en voor het thema bruikbare literatuur te verzamelen;
• Wetenschappelijke bronnen op juiste wijze te vermelden in de tekst en in de literatuurlijst;
• Waar nodig de juiste kaarten, tabellen en figuren te construeren en weer te geven.

Content

Most courses in the Human Geography & Spatial Planning curriculum have a writing component in in which you prepare a short paper. The subject matter of these is directly related to the content of the course in question. That is not the case of the Bachelor Thesis. This is not linked to a specific theme, region or course. Students have the ability to select a subject or theme according to their own preferences, be it within the possibilities for supervision. The main objective of the Bachelor Thesis based on literature is for a student to get familiar with the approach to processing and analysis of academic literature that is expected at SGPL. These are crucial skills for a master student undertaking his/her own research project (for a master thesis).
