Course goals

After completing this course, students:
  • Have deepened their knowledge and understanding of widely applied tools in the field of energy and material analysis.
  • Can apply the tools and critically reflect on the results

Content

Current energy and materials systems are unsustainable as they significantly negatively impact the environment and are based on finite resources. A transition to sustainable energy and materials systems is critical to combat climate change. 'Tools for Energy and Materials Analysis' contributes to understanding energy and materials from a systems perspective. The course will be built upon the fundamental scientific underpinnings of energy analysis and introduce various methods to analyze energy and materials systems. During the course, students will gain in-depth knowledge of applying these methods used in scientific research and consultancy work.
'Tools for Energy and Materials Analysis' is the first track-specific course for master’s students in Sustainable Development enrolled in the track Energy & Materials. Knowledge and competencies gained during the course will be used and elaborated on in later track-specific courses.


This course is an entry requirement for: Master's Thesis SD (GEO4-2321)
