Content
The aim of this course is to develop understanding of how this diversity is expressed, organized and represented in the streets, schools, work spaces and neighborhoods in various cities all over the world and whether we should see diversity as a challenge or an opportunity.
How do refugees, immigrants, and expats maintain social relations under globalizing conditions and shape varying paths to social, economic as well as cultural integration in various cities across the globe and what are the responses to this.
The wider question that is addressed in this course is how diversity is expressed in the urban context, where inequality is created and how we develop the capacity to live with super-diversity – and what all of this tells us about longer-term perspectives on urban citizenship, belonging, inclusion and exclusion
