Course goals
- to contribute to the work of an organisation, or to a research project
- to articulate your position vis-à-vis your work environment
- to critically assess and reflect upon your work environment by analysing the assumptions about conflict (e.g. conflict causes, dynamics, prevention, or resolution) that underlie the activities/ policies of the workplace and relate this analysis to the theoretical discussions as reviewed in the taught courses of the MA programme and/or more broadly the literature on Conflict Studies and Human Rights
- to articulate in writing what you learned from doing this internship that contributes to your skills and knowledge ‘mastery’ related to this Master’s in Conflict Studies & Human Rights.
Content
Students arrange the internship themselves. Examples are CARE, INCORE, PAX, Cordaid, UNDP, War Child, Permanent Mission to the UN in New York, UNCHR, Embassies and Ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs, but also smaller, local NGOS 'in the field' (ranging from Kampala, Paris, Sarajevo, Belfast, Beirut to Pristina and Guatemala City).
Additional information
The HUM Internship Office will register you for the Internship course. Before they can do that, you need to take a number of steps yourself. You can find these steps on the internship page of your programme. The fixed registration periods for regular courses do not apply to internships. On the internship page you can find when you should have registered.
