Course goals
- On the basis of premodern source material, if you successfully absolve this course you are able to transfer knowledge to a modern audience by means of various formats and in various styles.
- You know and understand the needs of these various audiences, and you are able to translate these needs into a suitable product (e.g. oral presentation, video, blogpost, podcast).
- In retrospect, you will be capable of analysing the products that you have produced and tested together with the course teacher, and you will be able to reflect on your professional attitude during the process of bringing knowledge and expertise to the general public.
Content
During the course the participants explore different media that can be used for academic valorization, and are coached in successfully adopting various formats geared towards a variety of audiences. You are challenged to explore your creativity beyond conventional scholarly templates. You are also trained in autonomously positioning yourself, both in academia and in other professional contexts.
Career orientation
This course trains students in composing English or Dutch texts that are geared towards presenting premodern source material (linguistic or otherwise) and the scholarship surrounding it for modern audiences, in academic and non-academic contexts.
If you are a non-AMRS student and wish to follow this course as a Research Master Elective, you can only enroll with consent of the program coordinator Rob Meens.
Students from: WIRM, OCLM, OKUM, OMUM, GSTM, MAPS, RLSM, HIST, OLIM may only enroll with consent from the Programme coordinator.
