Master-Apprentice Elective III

Course goals

These research tutorials offer the students insight in a specific area of art history by studying, under the supervision of a staff member, an amount of literature and/or look at relevant case studies or partake in research, attend research conferences... In a research tutorial the student acquires relevant research experience, and they develop research and academic writing skills. Different kinds of tutorial are possible: students can be involved in a research project of one of the professors and researchers; they can research a corpus of archived material, they can do literature tutorial wherein they expand your knowledge on a certain subject. Students can develop proposals for tutorials themselves. The specific goals of the tutorial need to be discussed with your tutorial supervisor.

Content

Working alongside a researcher in the field of Ancient, Medieval and Renaissance Studies. The student takes the initiative of asking the researcher whether there is an opportunity to assist with a research project undertaken by the researcher. It is up to the researcher, as ‘master’, to accept the student as ‘apprentice’. An indication of the possibilities is provided on the AMRS Brightspace community page.
