Research Seminar: Exploring New Historical Territory

Course goals

In the Research Seminar, small groups of students participate in ongoing historical research projects underway in our department, with each student developing an independent mini-project that can provide insights useful for the larger research project.

Content

Under the guidance of their teacher, each student writes a historiographical overview to identify key areas for research that can contribute to the broader project; develops an original research proposal with attention to theory, methods and sources; collects appropriate data from primary sources; and finally writes a research report summarizing their work and indicating possible avenues for future research.
