Objectives and Content
- To build on basic knowledge of physiology to gain knowledge of the anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the female (and male) organ systems necessary for reproduction.
- The gain insight in the symptoms, diagnostic methods, diagnoses, and the principles of therapy and prevention seen in diseases and disorders associated with the reproductive organs, fertility, normal and high-risk pregnancies, labor, and postpartum period.

Work formats
The weekly schedule consists of interactive workgroups. Additionally, per course, a lecture and pathology laboratory session are planned. E-modules are available (various subjects). In Meet-the-Expert sessions these subjects are discussed.
The course has a strong self-study component. The course handbook lists the material required to be studied prior to each meeting. Students' understanding of the material is further developed and expanded on during each session, and it may occur that not all the material is covered during the session.

Place within the curriculum:
The Obstetrics and Gynecology course takes place during weeks 40 through 44 of year 1 (calendar weeks 23 through 27).

Assessment
A written test takes place twice a year (one regular test and one repeat). The assessment is described in more detail in the course manual.
