Psychopathology

Objectives and content
- To gain insight into the main groups of psychiatric disorders, and their classification.
- To gain insight into the role of biological factors, psychological processes and environmental factors in the development of psychiatric illnesses.
- To acquire understanding of the principles of biological and psychotherapeutic treatment of psychiatric disorders.

Work format and weekly schedule.
The course consists of weekly interactive lectures, e-modules and interaction in Brightspace. Students are expected to invest a substantial amount of time in self-study. The course handbook lists the material required to be studied prior to each session. Understanding of the material is further developed and expanded on during each session, and illustrated with live patient demonstrations and videos.

Place within the curriculum
Psychopathology takes place in week 1 through 5 of year 2 (calendar weeks 37 through 41).

Assessment
A written test takes place twice a year (one regular test and a repeat).
