Emergency surgery and peri-operative care

Objectives and content
- To gain knowledge and insight into providing emergency medical care, and the often complex problems related to providing care in a time-pressed situation associated with this field of medicine. Emergency surgery and peri-operative care is to broad to be thoroughly addressed in one course; therefore a number of situations which can be encountered in this specialty have been chosen to be addressed more in-depth in the course.  

Work formats and weekly schedule
Lectures, self-study, work sessions, a meet-the-expert session and radiology sessions.

Place within the curriculum
The course Emergency surgery and peri-operative care ("Surgery") takes place in weeks 30 & 31 of year 2 (calendar weeks 13 & 14).

Assessment
A written test takes place twice a year (one regular test and one repeat).
