Content

Student Clinic Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose, and Throat, ENT )

Objectives and content.
- to learn the anatomy and physiology associated with the ear, vestibular system, nose and sinuses, neck, throat, vocal cords and tonsils.
- to learn to conduct a differential diagnostic procedure and to diagnose the most common problems associated with the ear, nose, and throat.
- to learn to perform the physical examination necessary to diagnose ear, nose, and throat problems.
- to learn to properly record the consultation in the patient record.

Work formats and weekly schedule
During a period of 5 weeks, each group has one half day per week allocated to the ENT out-patient clinic. Students learn under supervision in the student clinic. Furthermore, ENT techniques are demonstrated and students give recitations.

Place within the curriculum
The Student Clinic Otolaryngology takes place in year 2.

The relevant books for the student clinic are referred to on the general textbook list.  

Assessment
The assessment consists of both a written examination and a final evaluation of the student's practical abilities as assessed during a patient-encounter.
