Content
The Off-ward (Official Weekly Academic Reflection Day) is a propagation of the educational stream Clinical Reasoning from year 1 and 2. Furthermore, skills studied during the Evidence Based Medicine instruction are practiced.
Course format and weekly schedule
Off--ward meetings are always conducted on Friday. The off-ward takes place every afternoon of the 1st through 3rd Friday of the month in the Gelre Hospitals. The program on the 4th Friday of the month alternates between off-wards in Utrecht (5x per year), and regular clerkship duties.
Off-ward Gelre
- Every month a particular specialism is emphasized. The work formats include: journal clubs, skill practice, lectures, and reflection assignments.
- The following work formats are utilized: student presentations of a meta-analysis, interactive lectures covering different medical specialties, and presentations by budding medical researchers about conducting research alongside clinical work.
The Off-ward takes place in year 3.

Assessment
You have to attend at the least 26 Offwards for passing the course. Details concerning the exact components contributing to the assessment can be found in the student manual Off-ward.
The content and the presentation of the meta-analysis is assessed according to the criteria of AWV III.
