Content
The objectives of the Clerkship Social Medicine are to bring the social-medical way of thinking into practice and to obtain social-medical skills and practical knowledge. More information about the clerkship locations can be found in the clerkship manual (brightspace). The clerkship locations are assigned by the department of Public Health. It’s not allowed for students to approach a clerkship location on their own. Unfortunately it is also not possible to give a preference for a location, in connection with the scarcity of locations.
Course format and weekly schedule
The duration of the internship is two weeks, during which the student will be present at the clerkship location.
Place within the curriculum
The Medical Clerkship Social Medicine takes place in year 3 (and for some students in year 4) and is preceded by the Line “Medicine and Society” in years 1 and 2.
Literature
Books relevant for the clerkship are listed in the general textbook list. The main textbook used during Medicine and Society and the clerkship is the latest version of Mackenbach & Stronks, Volksgezondheid en gezondheidszorg.
Course material
Manual Internship Social Medicine.
Assessment
The student will be assessed by the supervisor at the clerkship location.
