Objectives and content
A general senior internship of at least twelve weeks is mandatory for all students. The main objectives of this internship include the expanding and mastering of general medical skills and the experience acquired in the internships.

- Lung-diseases and tuberculosis

- Neurology
- Neurosurgery
- Nuclear medicine
- Orthopedics
- Plastic surgery
- Psychiatry
- Rheumatology
- Rehabilitation medicine
- Social medicine
- Sports medicine
- Urology
- Obstetrics and gynaecology

Work formats and weekly schedule
The work formats are:
- Learning tasks - These are associated with the following competencies:

- Work formats with a (mainly) ‘didactic’ character.
These are further described in both the Portfolio and in the Instruction Manual 'Leidraad portfolio SUMMA ASECO, keuzecoschap, OP2-3 en afsluitblok (see Blackboard) and includes structured observations and feedback concerning clinical conduct and professional behaviour, reflection assignments and assignments with a contemplative character (written and/or as oral presentation).
Place within the curriculum
The General Senior Internship takes place in year 4.

Assessment and practical requirements
The portfolio, used as a guide for assessment, refers to the following:
- Planning interview at the start of the internship;
- Progress review and midterm assessment after four to six weeks;
- Assessment interview in the final week of the internship.
