Research Internship I
 
Objectives and content
 
- To learn to perform a literature search.
- To write a thesis based on the literature search.
- To gain the theoretical knowledge necessary to conduct the Research Internships II and III

The student writes a short, concise thesis.

Students following the medical technical track in the SUMMA curriculum conduct their RI I in the medical technical field.

Work forms and weekly format
Five weeks in the schedule have been allotted to writing the thesis, in coordination of the supervisor of the research group. Ideally, the subject of the thesis and the later internships (Research Internship II and III) are related, but this is not a requirement. After the five week period, the thesis is presented to fellow-students. Attendance at three presentation sessions is required.

Place within the curriculum
The course Research Internship I takes place from week 23 of year 2.

Assessment
The thesis is assessed by the internship supervisor and a second reviewer, and the assessment is approved by the course coordinator.
