Course goals

1. Ability to correctly read and interpret a non-specialised text (CEFR level B2);
2. Ability to hold a conversation in Standard Arabic (CEFR level A2).

Content

This course is part of the advanced track Islam.

This course continues the language acquisition of Modern Standard Arabic from the courses Arabic 1 through 4. This is achieved through reading texts and doing conversational exercises.

Students have two possible ways to include the course in their education: in the second year of the programme as part of an advanced track of courses; in the third year of the programme as an elective. For parts of the course, the instructor may temporarily separate the two categories of students and give separate assignments appropriate to their knowledge level.

Mandatory preparation applies to LAS and TCS students partaking in this course as part of the core track of their major.
