Course goals

By means of the thesis, students prove that they are able

• independently to study a topic in the discipline and to be able to discuss this topic critically, taking into account the academic and societal context;
• to present the results of their research efficiently according to the academic standards in the field.

Content

The BA thesis showcases the student’s profiency in the field of Literary Studies. By means of the thesis, the student proves to be able to indepently study a topic in the discipline and to be able to discuss this topic critically, taking into account the scientific and societal context. The student also shows to be able to present the results of his/her research efficiently according to the academic standards in the field. The work is carefully made, controllable and systematically organized.
 
The thesis consist of a written text, in English (or Dutch). 

It has: (1) a well-defined research question, (2) systematic research regarding that topic or question, (3) a proper conclusion, based on the arguments that were brought forward.
 
The text has around 6000 words, excluding the bibliography and appendices, and follows the academic guidelines in Literary Studies (i.e. MLA) for this kind of report.
