Course goals
This course aims to help students to:
- acquire knowledge of how social and cultural contexts impact notions of bodily and mental norms;
- make connections between bodily practices in contemporary culture and the theoretical insights they generate;
- expand their repertoire of texts within and beyond North American and European literary traditions;
- produce critical analysis of representations of the body across different media and gain familiarity with reporting research in various digital representation forms.

This is the third course of the specialisation Literature in Conflict.
This course has priority rules and a waiting list. Your enrolment is guaranteed if you are:
- a student in the BA Literary Studies enrolled in the specialisation Literature in Conflict.
- a student in the BA TCS enrolled in the hoofdrichting Moderne letterkunde.
- an exchange student and meet the course’s entry requirements.
In all other situations, you will be placed on a waiting list if you enrol in this course. For any remaining slots in the course, lots are drawn among the students on the waiting list.
