Internship Gender Studies

Course goals

After completion of the research internship, the student
A)   has gained practical work experience and reflected on and interacted with professional practice in Gender Studies;
B)   has developed an independent research focus for the internship, clearly outlined in the internship workplan and reflected upon in the final internship report;
C)   has used feminist methods in the practical/professional field;
D)   has begun to establish professional networks with the workfield in Gender Studies.

Content

Only open to students who have completed at least 25 EC of semester I. Other students only after approval.

The internship consists of 10 full weeks of a work placement. It allows the student to experience a professional engagement within the MA study period. The internship is a central column within the study curriculum of the MA Gender Studies. Under supervision of a staff member (university supervisor), the student is required to find their own internship by approaching organisations of their interest. Before the internship starts, a workplan is developed together with the internship supervisors (university supervisor and supervisor at the internship providing organization/institution) that specifies in detail the activities, projects, and the Gender Studies relevant research component of the internship. At the end of the internship the student will compile a report of both the achievements and experiences at the internship placement and present the undertaken research of the internship.

The HUM Internship Office will register you for the Internship course. Before they can do that, you need to take a number of steps yourself. You can find these steps on the internship page of your programme. The fixed registration periods for regular courses do not apply to internships.
