Course goals

After completion of this course, the student has learned to:

A) grasp what it means to do Gender Studies, in theory and in practice;
B) reflect critically on the use of GenerativeAI technologies;
C) apply for an internship related to Gender Studies;
D) become familiar with the career opportunities related to their interests within the field;
E) master the academic practice of peer discussion and feedback.

Content

Only open to students of the MA programme in Gender Studies.

The course starts with the yearly NOISE Summerschool, which takes place in the week before the academic year starts. After this thematically-focused introduction, it continues to train students in the basic blocks of doing Gender Studies research: reading critically, understanding the functioning of the field and, more generally, developing key skills related to academic thinking and writing. Next to it, the course prepares students for the internship they will carry out during the programme, for their career future after their studies, and for critically approaching GenerativeAI technologies. Therefore, it offers students the opportunity to explore what practicing Gender Studies means, both in theory and in practice.
