Internship RMA Musicology

Course goals

After completing the internship, the student:

• is able to formulate an original research topic in consultation with the internship supervisor(s);
• has learned to apply research skills in a practical setting;
• has gained familiarity with work practices in another institution;
• has learned best practices in reporting the results of (contract) research in a professional manner.

Content

In an internship you learn how to apply in practice the research skills that you acquired in earlier course work. An internship for a Research MA invariably includes a significant component of original research, such as cataloguing new or previously unresearched sources, helping develop new research techniques, or exploring cutting-edge methodologies, always under the guidance of an experienced supervisor. You also get to know the work environment of a research institute, research library, or scholarly archive. A successful internship not only functions as a crucial bridge to entering the workforce but also provides you with the raw material for your RMA thesis. 

Registration is completed upon submission of all relevant documents to the Student Information Desk.

Course registration
The HUM Internship Office will register you for the Internship course. Before they can do that, you need to take a number of steps yourself. You can find these steps on the internship page of your programme. The fixed registration periods for regular courses do not apply to internships. On the internship page you can find when you should have registered.
