Course goals

Content

This is an advanced course aimed at providing Research Master students with a theoretical/conceptual framework and enhancing their understanding of the meaning, function, and value of key concepts in feminist, gay and lesbian, queer, and trans studies, among other fields of minority knowledge. Special emphasis in this course lies on how to approach academic work as well as how to engage critically with textual material. The course also introduces students to various debates and traditions within Gender Studies and feminist/queer theories, elaborating on terms such as ‘gender’, ‘sex’, ‘sexuality’, ‘desire’, ‘other’, 'subjectivity’, 'vulnerability' and many others. Students are expected to engage with the theoretical/conceptual toolkit presented in the course from the perspective of their own research interests.

Additional information

This course is for students in the RMA programme in Gender Studies and the GEMMA programme. The entrance requirements for exchange students will be checked by the International Office and the programme coordinators. You do not have to contact the programme coordinators by yourself.
