The purpose of this course is to present the basic mathematical and computational tools needed for the statistical analysis of experimental data. The methods will be practiced by writing and running short computer programs.

Main topics: Probability, Distributions of random variables, Examples of probability density functions, The Monte-Carlo method, Parameter estimation, The method of maximum likelihood, The method of least square, Testing the goodness-of-fit, Least square fitting with constraints.
