Thesis part 2 Climate physics

Course goals

After completion of this course, the student
 

• is able to execute the research designed in part 1 under the supervision of a member of the scientific staff according to the rules of good scientific practice and ethics;
• is able to analyse and interpret the acquired materials and/or data according to scientific standards;
• has demonstrated a professional working attitude (able to solve tasks by him/herself);
• is able to participate critically and constructively in the scientific debate in the research group, to indicate the relevance of his/her research for the advancement of the physics of climate, and to reflect critically upon his/her own contribution to the research in climate physics, and that of others;
• has the skills to discuss, in spoken and written English, the results of research, including the underlying knowledge and background, to a target group composed of specialists or non-specialists;
• is able to participate in a constructive critical way in an international (possibly interdisciplinary) team of experts and use modern means of scientific communication;
• has the skills to work independently and take initiatives where necessary and to evaluate his/her own learning and development process and to adjust this process if necessary;
