Academic Skills Literature (English)

Course goals

The goals of the course include:

• Students become familiar with the most important methods and theories in the study of literary and cultural texts from the English-speaking world;
• Students learn how to formulate research questions and develop a research plan for their BA-thesis in which primary, secondary and theoretical texts are effectively explored in light of another;
• Students learn how to articulate their findings in a coherent text that displays a high level of proficiency in written formal English and academic referencing.

Content

In this blended course, we discuss and apply different research methods and approaches prevalent in literary research. Students are offered an overview of seminal theoretical perspectives and practice their research skills. They learn how to formulate academic questions and are trained to articulate their insights effectively in academic English.
