Course goals
After this course:

By the end of the course, students should have acquired knowledge about the sources and structure of Dutch law, along with a general grasp of Dutch law in the modern legal divisions.

Students should have learned skills to search for and find literature and legal sources related to Dutch law in the English language.

Students should develop critical reflection on the role of law in shaping societal norms and addressing complex social challenges. In addition, students should be able to present their findings clearly and concisely to their peers.
Content
The course covers 8 meetings. Students must be present in class. Each session will typically include an introductory lecture, with the latter part of the session dedicated to addressing any questions students may have related to the assigned literature. Active participation is encouraged, In order to stimulate the students’ active participation, students are required to do a presentation on an aspect of Dutch law that has been generally introduced to them (in groups of 3-4) during the previous week.
Entrance requirements: students are required to have reasonable knowledge of one legal system.
