Course goals

After this course:

• The student can formulate a research proposal;
• The student can independently develop a research plan that meets the relevant requirements;
• The student can independently choose an appropriate research approach or method and motivate this choice adequately;
• The student can report in a clear and organized manner on the structure of the research;
• The student can give feedback on research proposals of other students and the methodological choices made.

Content

The research and thesis module is part of the OST trajectory. It takes place in period 3 and it is an entry requirement for writing your Master thesis. See Rules and Regulations 2026-2027 and Brightspace for further regulations. Earlier in the academic year you will follow training sessions to acquire research skills necessary before writing a research proposal and the thesis. Information about this will be communicated in a timely manner. A thesis supervisor will be assigned by the thesis coordinator of the Master on the basis of the submitted research proposal. Attendance is mandatory. The research module is completed with an approved research proposal by the end of period 3.
