Internship Law and Economics

You can do an internship after you have successfully completed all the courses of the LLM, and after you have completed your thesis. If you need to be enrolled as a student for the duration of your internship, you may ask, after completing the thesis writing process, for postponement of your graduation. For more information on how to do this, please contact the internship coordinator. You can also do an internship at the same time as you are drafting the thesis. You can do this when the internship directly relates to your thesis topic, or when it is impossible to do the internship after finalizing the thesis. Before you apply for such an internship, please consult with the thesis coordinator.

• It is possible to get ECTS for your internship, provided the internship meets the following criteria:
  • The internship must have an  Law and Economics  component;
  • The minimum duration of the internship is 6 weeks full time or 30 days part time (with a weekly minimum of 3 days’ work);
  • During the internship, you will receive supervision from the internship location and from a member of the academic staff of Utrecht University;
  • Once you have found an internship, you need to fill in the internship approval form (goedkeuringsformulier), which can be downloaded from this Blackboard page;
  • At the end of the internship your supervisor at the organization where you have been working needs to fill in the evaluation form (evaluatieformulier), available in English and Dutch on this Blackboard page.
