Course goals
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
- identify the main components of a presentation (attention-grabber, introduction, main point, subpoints, conclusion, etc.)
- organize presentations logically using well-defined introduction, main points, and conclusion
- use vocal variety, tone, pitch, and pacing to engage listeners and maintain interest
- create visual aids that enhance the spoken content of a presentation
- analyze presentations and provide constructive feedback on them (content and delivery)
- speak in front of groups with increased confidence

Please note: the time slot of period 3 shown here is not yet final and may still be modified until the 3rd Wednesday in September.
This course has a waiting list. If you enrol in this course, you will be placed on the waiting list automatically. Once course enrolment has ended, the available slots in the course will be allotted by drawing lots among the students on the waiting list.
It should be noted that this course is not intended to prepare students to produce any written work. Students interested in improving their ability to produce written academic work are referred to the course Academic Writing (TL1V18002) in period 2 or 4.
This course is not open to students who have passed Academic English (EN1V14001), The Sound Lab (EN1V13001) or English Language & Linguistics for TCS/Minor (EN1V14002).
Please note: students of the English Language and Culture BA are not allowed to take this course!
