Course goals

The aim of the internship is for the student to discover and analyse the structure, workings and communication of an international company or organisation by observing and actively participating in one or more of its departments. In this, the students will be encouraged to apply the theory they learned. Ideally there should be a clear connection between the language of study and the internship, but this is not a formal requirement.

Content

The internship enables students to familiarise themselves with the professional field and the labour market.Through the internship students acquire intercultural competences in the work environment of an international company or organisation in the Netherlands or abroad. Students become familiar with its structure and communicative processes and learn to function in such an environment. For a 15 ECTS internship students conduct applied research in linguistic, cultural or organisational aspects of business communication, and reflect on this in an academic paper. Students write their internship reports in the language of study. In addition, students write research reports.

At students.uu.nl you will find all the steps you need to take to register for an internship (and receive EC for it), as well as the internship guide. Read the internship guide as a preparation of looking for and making arrangements about an internship. Besides all procedures and rules, you can also find tips on looking for an internship, writing your internship plan and your internship report.
