Content
Working in a GMO-classified laboratory requires a good understanding of safe microbiological practices to protect yourself, your environment, and the integrity of your experiments. This course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to conduct research in accordance with Good Microbiological Techniques (GMT). We'll begin by exploring the fundamentals of microbiology and the Dutch laws and regulations governing work with GMO microorganisms. To further explore these concepts, we'll conduct hands-on experiments with bacteria and fungi, related to research performed in our group. You'll also master a range of essential molecular techniques commonly used in molecular and microbiological research. By the end of the course, you'll have a foundation in safe laboratory practices and molecular techniques. As a testament to your proficiency, you'll earn the certificate for Good Microbiological Techniques (VMT certificate), a valuable credential, not only in the field of microbiology, but for every research field in which recombinant DNA technology is important.
